I’ve only flown Air France once and while I had a less than perfect experience, which I cannot entirely blame them, it was a comfortable flight with excellent service. You see… I was flying to the US over Christmas 2010. That winter was bad everywhere! My connection was in Paris, where the weather was just plain horrible. Not to mention my destination, Newark, New Jersey. Both airports were experiencing heavy snowstorms with hundreds of flights canceled or delayed.
When I arrived in Paris I learned that my connecting flight had been canceled. I was forced to stay 2 nights at the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Marriott Hotel. Being a big fan of the Marriott, it wasn’t all bad.
The problem was that my luggage never made it! I had to stay for 2 days without any clothes other than what I was wearing. Air France DID give me a 50 euro voucher, but that wouldn’t even cover a one-way taxi ride into town. Being that it was Christmas day, there were no stores open anywhere.
Finally, I was able to make it Newark, did some shopping and everything was fine. My luggage didn’t finally catch up to me until I had returned home nearly 2 weeks later. All in all, I can’t be too upset as it was the weather, not the airline, that created this discomfort. I will use Air France again should the need arise.
One thing to note is that often there are labor strikes that affect travel within France, so always check before you go. Safe travels!
